Asemic Writing

Asemic Writing

When is writing not writing?

Asemic writing uses lines and symbols that look like handwriting, but in fact, has no actual meaning. It was been compared to abstract art – a form that encourages the viewer to create their own meaning.

I love to use asemic writing as part of my markmaking toolkit when I create mixed media collage or when I make unique collage papers.

Give it a try. There are so many approaches and each one can become as individualized as your fingerprint. What is your asemic writing style?
