SUPPLIES:
Suggested and optional supplies will be covered in our first session. Many items you may already have or might find at a thrift store.
Session 1 – Thursday, January 9
Thrift store frames with glass (optional: also look for clocks with glass faces, or frames with convex or beveled glass)
Thrift store glass vases or glass containers that you can fit your hand into
PVA glue or liquid medium
Glue brush
Cloth rag and bowl/container of water
Various collage papers, books, magazines, etc.
Your favorite scissors/blade
Plus:
Any or all of the below:
Fabric pieces (a little bigger than the size of your frame)
Gold leaf adhesive and gold leaf or mica powder
Spray paint
Session 2 – Thursday, January 23
Suggested:
Paper pulp egg cartons
Thrift store blender
Flour/salt
Plastic wrap
Thin papers and/or paper napkins
Matte medium
Fabric scraps
Forms – can be objects, Styrofoam or plastic mannequin heads/torsos, let your imagination go wild – we will be creating fabric collages on these forms
Session 3 – Thursday, February 13
Coconut oil or jojoba oil
Beeswax
Thrift store iron or craft iron
Canvas or muslin scraps
Vinyl scraps
Fabric scraps
Inks and acrylics
Various papers – mulberry papers, artist papers, books, magazines, etc. plus images printed on Ink Jet printer
Session 4 – Thursday, February 27
Watersoluble paper
Nonfusible fabric interfacing
Sewing needles, thread, embroidery floss
Scissors, gluestick, favorite adhesive
Optional: Sewing machine and/or embroidery hoop
Session 5 – Thursday, March 13
Vinyl pieces
Canvas scraps
Unusual substrates – let your imagination go wild – some ideas: vinyl records, cd’s, bottles, boxes, blocks, etc.
Session 6 – Thursday, March 27
Final session will combine your favorite techniques and materials
